Team Asobi’s recently announced Astro Bot, a new entry in the 3D platforming series, is a “really, really big game”, per studio head Nicolas Doucet. There are over 80 levels, more than 15 abilities and +70 enemy types, which certainly adds credence to the statement. Of course, if that’s not enough, players can rescue 300 Bots, including over 150 VIP Bots, per the game’s official PlayStation page. The latter are based on PlayStation characters from throughout history. We’ve already seen Bots based on Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Kratos (God of War) and PaRappa the Rapper. The page also clearly shows Aloy (Horizon) and Ratchet (Ratchet and Clank), who both appeared at the start of the announcement trailer. Also, in case there was any doubt, Astro Bot doesn’t have multiplayer, which isn’t surprising since previous entries didn’t either. There are also no in-game purchases, though you can collect coins for the Gatcha Lab, which returns from Astro’s Playroom. Given how many goodies the Gatcha Game dispensed, players should have plenty of coin-hunting ahead in the follow-up. Astro Bot launches on September 6th for PS5. Head here for ten new details you should know about it.
